
AGRICULTURAL TIRES
Some Points Worth Remembering.
Alliance agricultural tires are designed for optimum performance under all working conditions. They are manufactured for agricultural and forestry jobs, including occasional on the road driving. Before using them for any other type of work consult the manufacturer.
To achieve best results follow these tips:
Load and Inflation Pressure
Never overload your tires or drive them when they are over-inflated or under-inflated. If you know the total weight (load on rig) on the tires, consult the tables on the following pages to determine the correct inflation pressure. If this is not possible, follow the instructions of the tractor manufacturer.
For tractor drive-wheel tires, maintain an inflation pressure of 20 psi (1.4 bar) when employed for industrial use or full-time on-the-road jobs, even when load is insignificant.
For work in the field it is recommended never to lower inflation pressure below 16 psi (1.1 bar). If, however, a lower pressure is needed for a specific field job, remember to raise it back to the normal required pressure upon completion of that specific task.
Load Index & Speed Symbol
Always use the recommended rim size. If, however, the rim used is narrower than the narrowest recommended rim, reduce tire load to the load recommended for the tire one size smaller, maintaining the same inflation pressure.
Always use a new tube with a new tire. Tube size should be identical to tire size. For tractor drive-wheels, use an air-water valve tube.
Rims & Tubes

Mounting And Dismounting
Always practice correct mounting and dismounting procedures, and make sure you have taken all safety precautions. After mounting the tire, inflate it to seat the beads. Then completely deflate and re-inflate to recommended working pressure.
Remember: Never inflate tractor drive-wheels beyond 35 psi (2.5 bar) when seating the beads.
Water Filling
To achieve better traction, fill the tire with water. Done correctly, this practice will not harm the tire or influence its driving properties. In cold climate areas, add anti-freeze substances. The recommended substances are calcium chloride 80% or magnesium chloride 47%.
Storage
Do not store tires for more than a few months. Storage areas should be dark and cool, free of dirt and oils and should be as far as possible from running electric engines.

Off-the-road tires
Some Points Worth Remembering
Alliance off-the-road tires are designed for mining, roadwork, and timber hauling and construction jobs. Before using those for any other type of work consult the manufacturer. Improper handling, poor maintenance and improper driving habits can harm these costly tires and consequently raise the operating cost of your equipment substantially. Therefore, please read and carefully follow all operating instructions.
Tire Selection
When selecting a tire, look for the one most suitable for the job. Tire size and P.R. should be determined after weighing the loads on each wheel according to accepted procedures. Generally, it is recommended to choose the tire that carries the load with the lowest inflation pressure. After selecting the tires and mounting them do not overload the vehicle, for example, by adding sideboards.
Load And Inflation Pressure
In order to obtain the best results from your tires, maintain the correct inflation pressure at all times. Bear in mind that it takes the tire up to 24 hours to cool after completing a job. For this reason it is recommended that you check and adjust the inflation pressure after long breaks or weekends. In addition, tire pressure should be checked every month, and occasionally during the work day, taking into account that the heat build-up raises the pressure up to 15 psi. If, however, the inflation pressure exceeds the additional 15 psi, reduce the load or the driving speed.
Never lower inflation pressure by bleeding, since it increases heat build-up.
Cover all valves with caps to prevent the penetration of dirt.
Load and inflation pressures should be determined according to length of the haul (see following tables). When the haul exceeds 5 miles, round-trip, consult the tire manufacturer. Maintenance of the haul road can substantially increase the tires’ lives.
It is permitted to use regular skid depth tires without dry ballast in transit, on the condition that the following rules are carefully observed:
- The vehicle must be unloaded during transit.
- Maximum highway speed must be limited to 30 mph. For wide-base tires, the speed is 20 mph.
- Proper inflation pressure must be checked and maintained according to manufacturer’s instructions or the tables on the following pages.
- 30-minute intervals should be observed for cooling off every 50 miles or after 2 hours of sustained operation, whichever comes first.
- A minimum one-hour midday stop should be observed during full day operation.
Driving Properly
To get the maximum from your off-the-road tire, it is essential to adopt proper driving habits. Avoid chuck holes and refrain from strong spinning, sudden starting or breaking maneuvers, high speed cornering, locking one wheel for sharp turns etc. All of these may harm your tires and shorten their service life.
Storage
Do not store tires for more than a few months. Stores should be dark and cool, free of dirt and oils and as far as possible from running electric engines.
Mounting And Dismounting
Always practice correct mounting and dismounting procedures, and make sure you have taken all safety precautions. Remember, many severe accidents are the result of carelessness in mounting or dismounting.
Before mounting the tires on the vehicle, check the wheels and rims and make sure that the vehicle is in perfect mechanical condition. Upon completion of the mounting process, check the clearance between the wheel and the vehicle all around. For duals, install a permanent rock ejector to prevent damage from wedged rocks.
Duals should not vary in their overall diameter, more than ¼” for tires of up to 8.25” cross section, and ½” for tires with cross section of 9.00” and above. If this is not adhered to, the larger tire is likely to fail prematurely. Never try to make up for larger differences by changing the inflation pressure.
